An unchanged side from the one that thumped Stoke City came out looking for their first two win streak of the season. It started well enough but Bolton Wanderers would roll over in the second half to give West Brom the points they thoroughly deserved. Three attacking changes from Owen Coyle proved largely useless as Bolton managed a grand total two shots in the second half, neither of which really troubled anyone.
It was all to do for Bolton Wanderers right from the beginning when Zoltan Gera played an excellent through ball to Jerome Thomas. The pass made its way through the legs of Gary Cahill and a deft touch from Thomas allowed him to round Jaaskelainen and tap it in to put West Brom 1-0 up.
Albion's advantage wouldn't last long as Bolton would get a break in the form of a penalty. Jerome Thomas, who had scored at the other end, brought down Fabrice Muamba in the box on a corner kick. Ivan Klasnic stood over the ball and tucked it into the side netting, past an outstretched Ben Foster who had guessed the right way. All level.
Roy Hodgson must have given West Brom some team talk during the break because they came out for the second half like Mario Balotelli's bathroom. The possession was all them and it looked only a matter of minutes until the ball found the back of the net again. It was Shane Long who kept the Baggies' promise when he rose highest to meet Nicky Shorey's cross to put it past Jussi Jaaskelainen who couldn't do a thing about it.
As it stands, Bolton are still 18th on the table but safety isn't far away as 8th place is just a mere 6 points away. It could and should have gone better for Bolton. Owen Coyle has got some thinking to do.
