Wanderin' Wanderers: Internationals

Ah yes, another witty and original joke over our name. Hilarious, I know. This is why I'm a blogger. Anyway, I haven't been much of one recently and for that I apologise. Maybe I'll get my act together one of these days. Maybe. Not to worry though, as there hasn't been much going on. While some of our players get to lie back and relax during their holidays, others have been busy representing their country. Except for one Gary Cahill who, while called into the England camp, was not included in the squad for the embarrassing match against Switzerland. Which I suppose is for the best. However, one of our boys did get the three lions on his chest, as Fabrice Muamba played for 45 minutes in the England U21's final warm up match. They beat Norway 2-0, including a nice goal from Danny Sturridge. Rather more encouraging than our seniors at the moment.

Star-divide

On Friday, we had 3 players in action. Chung-Yong Lee played 77 minutes in South Korea's 2-1 victory over Serbia. It sounds like he had a solid, if not brilliant match, which would make sense given his most recent performances for Bolton. In a more important match, Ivan Klasnic came off the bench to see out a 2-1 victory over Georgia in a Euro Qualifier, which meant that Croatia moved to the top of Group F. And our favourite ginger, Adam Bogdan made his senior debut for Hungary, and kept a clean sheet for 90 minutes, bless. Nevermind that it was against Luxembourg dear, we're still very proud.

Finally Old Man Petrov played for 88 minutes against Montenegro in a 1-1 draw from Bulgaria in their Group G qualifier. Poor Bulgaria are still bottom though, while Montenegro and England are joint first with 11 points each.
