This is more of an opinion than anything else but what if Bolton Wanderers were so bold as to drop Kevin Davies from penalty kick duty and install Martin Petrov in his place? Super Kev has long been a fixture, standing over the penalty spot when Bolton have been fortunate enough to receive a foul in the box. So many of his goals come from just 12 yards out and in the center of the box. Yet lately, he hasn't been able to find his goal scoring boots and seems afraid to have a go at goal with anything but his head.
When David Ngog was pushed to the ground in Bolton's 2-1 loss to Norwich City, Kevin Davies had already been substituted off the shot from the spot duties fell to Martin Petrov. As he lined up his effort, the shot went low and to the left with John Ruddy at full stretch but he was powerless to stop it. Simply put, Petrov's shot could not have been more perfectly placed as it emphatically found the back of the net and gave Bolton Wanderers a much needed lifeline.
Here is the goal in question if you missed it. Watch and admire the technique.
