This big! - Richard Heathcote
One day Mick's not in the running, the next he's been "offered" the post. It's all speculation but here's the latest bit of it.
I really just wanted an excuse to use this gif.
Now, onto serious business and pressing matters. Sources (everyone hates that word) close to Mick McCarthy have told the Bolton News that the former Wolves manager has essentially been offered the Bolton Wanderers job and it's his should he say yes. The supposed statement goes against everything we've heard out of the Reebok over the last week or so but more on that later.
People/sources/ghosts/puppies close to McCarthy reckon that "discussions have been so far-reaching that the topic of accommodation had even been covered for him and long-term assistant Terry Connor," per the Bolton News. The article continued:
They claim the chance to inherit a strong, but under-achieving squad from Coyle would be the former Millwall and Wolves manager's favoured choice but that he does have reservations over some of the terms apparently offered to him.
McCarthy wants to bring in Connor, who served for four years at Molineux as his number two. If that were to happen, there would be no natural post for Sammy Lee - who, it is understood, will be a permanent feature on the training ground for any new appointment.
Yet all indications from Bolton Wanderers over the last week have been that the club are looking for a new direction. They want a young manager who is hungry, raring to go, and willing to bring youth players through the ranks. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was the man that the board wanted, has said that he will be staying in Norway until Molde's season ends. Michael Appleton, also on the shortlist, has maintained that no one has contacted him.
It was just last week that the Bolton News claimed that big Mick was not in the running for the Bolton manager post.Of course, at this point, everything from everyone is speculation.
