Championship Match: Bolton Wanderers v. Bristol City
The post-Owen Coyle era begins this weekend as Bolton host Bristol City in a battle between the 17th and 18th placed clubs in the nPower Championship. Both clubs have eleven points so far and a penchant for conceding goals. It should be an end-to-end affair with quite a few chances created, and some of them even finished.

What. A. Game. Bolton Wanderers went 2-0 down early but a fighting spirit and arguably the best half of football we've seen from the Whites in a long time mean that Bolton get the full three points at home.
Was that O Fenomeno in the Bristol City box? Wrong, better. Super Kevin Davies was part of a lovely bit of play that led to Bolton Wanderers' second goal and the equalizer against Bristol City. Super Kev proved his worth once again for Bolton thanks to wonderful hold up play in order to create time and space for the onrushing Liverpool loanee, Jay Spearing. The young midfielder finished well and low for his first Bolton Wanderers goal.
The second half was all Bolton Wanderers to this point with spurts of Bristol City breaking forward towards Bolton's goal. Bolton created chances through Mark Davies, Benik Afobe, Matt Mills, and Kevin Davies. Bolton also managed to maintain their frankly ridiculous possession rate which is now at 65%. These have arguably been the best 20 minutes that Bolton Wanderers have had this season. Bolton are still in control and are pushing for the winner.
Bolton have found their urgency and it only took 31 minutes. If you had to bet on who it was that would score for Bolton, there was really ever only one choice, wasn't there? Chris Eagles scored once more for Bolton Wanderers as the man with the slicked back hair and boyish good looks could well prove to save this side.
Eagles had possession of the ball on the edge of Bristol City's box and attempted to get around the defender with a with a twisting little move. Unfortunately for Bristol, they brought Eagles down inside the arc but just outside the penalty box and it was a free kick to Bolton from 20 yards out. Eagles took it low and hard, with a near replica of the goal he scored at Millwall, putting it past Heaton. 1-2.
A frustrating start for Bolton Wanderers as they went down early on Jimmy Phillips' first match as caretaker manager. It took only three minutes for Bristol City to go ahead on what was, admittedly, a very good goal. Liam Fontaine broke forward for Bristol City and crossed into the box but Matt Mills cleared the ball behind for a Bristol City corner. Albert Adomah, the danger man and one we were told to be wary of, took the corner and put it into the box where a Bolton man deflected it. Forward Steve Davis hit it acrobatically in what can only be described as an overhead kick into the corner of the net.
Bristol City doubled their lead on 21 minutes as Martin Woolford was brought down in the box by Stephen Warnock. The decision was a contentious one but Bolton gave up their fifth penalty in six games. Steve Davies stepped up to take and sent Adam Bogdan the wrong way to make the score 2-0 to Bristol City halfway through the first period.
In Jimmy Phillips first match in charge, after Owen Coyle's sacking over the international break, Bolton Wanderers host fellow strugglers Bristol City at the Reebok. Massive doesn't even cover it...
As was pointed out in our match preview, both Bristol City management and Bolton fans have no clue about what to expect in terms of lineups and tactics from Bolton tomorrow. Ahead of the match, the Bristol City boss has called for his men to stand strong.

Paul Binning, from the fantastic Bristol City blog, the Exiled Robin, gave us such good answers that I don't think he needs an introduction. Without further ado....
Call me jaded. It's been a nearly non-stop downhill tumble for the better part of the last two years as a Bolton Wanderers fan. From the dizzying heights of sixth place in the Premier League to where we are now. Yet, this weekend brings a fresh slate and with it, hope.
Bolton have just one fresh injury concern for this weekend's match and it's (shocker) another knee problem! This time for backup goalkeeper Andy Lonergan
