Bolton's Dougie Freedman Delay Due To Assistants

We wondered what the delay was in confirming Dougie Freedman as Bolton Wanderers manager. Now we seem to have an answer

Was it something to do with personal terms? Something more from Crystal Palace? The never-ending "physical" like Nigel Reo-Coker had before joining the Trotters? Turns out, he's trying to bring his Crystal Palace assistants in.

Ashton, a writer for the Daily Mail, was one of the first people to break the Dougie Freedman to Bolton Wanderers move.

Should Lennie Lawrence and Curtis Fleming come in, it would of course puts doubt on Jimmy Phillips and Sammy Lee's first team involvement (and maybe but hopefully not, their futures at Bolton Wanderers). A number of fans, us included, sincerely hoped that Dougie would come in and Jimmy & Sammy would be his first team assistants. This, however, does not look like it will be the case.

These negotiations do not seem to be putting the deal in doubt at all and Bolton will confirm everything in the coming days. Jimmy Phillips will still be in charge for Saturday's match at Middlesbrough and thus, there is no real rush on the Trotters. It remains to be seen what the new management setup will do with Bolton's setup. To date, Crystal Palace has allowed the same number of goals as Bolton Wanderers but scored three more to make their goal difference equal 1, as opposed to Bolton's -2.
