Oh my days. Is it Christmas morning? Is this actually real? Ipswich Town need a new manager and both Coyle & Megson are in the frame.
Ipswich Town parted ways with manager Paul Jewell just a few days ago. The Tractor Boys sit dead last of the Championship and are looking to get a new manager in quickly. If Ipswich Town sounds familiar to you, the reader, it's because they've made waves in world of Bolton a few times the last few months. First, Nigel Reo-Coker signed a short-term deal with them after being without a club since leaving Bolton, and second, there were rumors that they tried to poach Dougie Freedman from under Bolton's noses.
Well, in what can only be described as magical, it seems that both Owen Coyle and Gary Megson are in the running for the Blues' open manager position. The two current favorites (according to the bookies) for the position are Mick McCarthy and Alan Curbishley with Owen Coyle currently third-favorite. A number of Ipswich fans would like Owen Coyle in.
Gary Megson is bringing up the rear in the odds but is near the top of the list. He has been without a job since being let go by Sheffield Wednesday last February. He was heavily considered the last time the Ipswich position opened up, back in January 2011, when Ipswich hired Jewell. Megson went to Sheffield Wednesday the following month.
Ipswich town still have to play Bolton twice this season. The first meeting will be on December 1st when Ipswich come to the Reebok Stadium. The return leg will be on March 16 at Ipswich Town's Portman Road.
