With the caretaker reign of Jimmy Phillips, Sammy Lee, and Julian Darby now officially at an end, there has been no official announcement about what is to become of them under Dougie Freedman. Whether the trio will maintain a first-team role or return to the academy is yet to be seen.
Things at Crystal Palace are still going well as Lennie Lawrence, continuing in his caretaker role, picked up a proud win for the Eagles. Since Dougie Freedman left the London club, they have managed to pick up four points from two games with the latest three coming from a then-top Leicester City side. Crystal Palace pulled two ahead of Leicester City after goals in the 23rd and 28th minutes and the Foxes pulled one back in second half stoppage time. Crystal Palace remain fourth in the table, nine points clear of Bolton Wanderers.
Speaking to the official Palace site after the match, Lennie Lawrence discussed his future:
"I have a loyalty to Dougie Freedman. There has been interest from Bolton but I'm here and will do this job to the best of my ability. I will not be applying for the full time job.
"Whoever gets it has a golden chance. He is going to be one lucky man. There's something very special here. It's unusual that you get the opportunity to take on a group of players that is so together and riding high in the top four".
Dougie Freedman has a major job ahead of him as he begins his role as manager. Surely someone as experienced as Lawrence would only help.
