A report out of south London today states that Crystal Palace's chief scout, David Sclanders, has left Selhurst Park.
Nothing is official yet but the most likely destination for the man that boosted the Eagles' scouting network so much seems to be the Reebok Stadium and Bolton Wanderers. Dougie Freedman has already taken four of his colleagues from Crystal Palace and installed them at the Reebok. Those four are Lennie Lawrence, Curtis Fleming, Jamie Fullarton, and Lee Turner. Sclanders would be number five.
Over the last few years, Crystal Palace had made some excellent signings on the cheap and then sold them on for massive percentage increases. Players like Yannick Bolasie and Glenn Murray were brought in this season and have become integral pieces in the high-flying Crystal Palace machine.
Palace have had some recognizable names that were brought through their ranks before being sold on. Those names include Nathanial Clyne, Victor Moses, Jose Fonte, and Ben Watson among many, many others.
Bolton's scouting network has been poor to say the least since Sam Allardyce's departure in 2007 (in fact, it's something we wrote about in-depth here). If/when David Sclanders signs on with the Trotters, it will certainly be a boost in that department.
