Extent of Mark Davies injury revealed

Some new information about the injury that Bolton's central midfielder suffered at Huddersfield Town has emerged. We knew that the blow happened when Mark Davies landed awkwardly in the match and we knew that the injury had to do with his shoulder or collarbone. This morning, the Bolton News reported the following:

The Bolton News believes a scan this week revealed the injury was worse than first feared.

It is understood Davies had surgery on his collarbone yesterday and is set for at least two months out of action and it could be as much as three.

What we still don't know is what the injury actually affected, whether it was a broken bone, torn muscles, ruptured ligaments, or some combination of the above. We expect some more information about what happened at Dougie Freedman's pre-Charlton press conference.

The injury comes as a blow to Bolton fans as Mark Davies had found form and consistency under Dougie Freedman's management and looked to be a significant goal threat for the Trotters.

Confirmed: Mark Davies suffers shoulder injury

The confirmation has come through the Bolton News. Mark Davies will have to sit on the sidelines for some time in what will be a major blow to Bolton Wandererers. The Bolton News just published this brief bit of information:

Wanderers have been dealt a blow after in-form midfielder Mark Davies was ruled out for up to three months with a shoulder injury.

Davies suffered the injury in the 2-2 draw at Huddersfield and scans have revealed a more serious problem than first feared.

Their full story on the injury is out tomorrow.

Davies had become an integral part of Bolton's lineup under Dougie Freedman and was actually doing very well in the 4-5-1 formation. He is set to miss about 12 weeks thanks to the injury.

Jacob Butterfield, on loan from Norwich City, will more likely than not slot straight into Davies' place in the side. The worry is really what happens after Butterfield as he is only with Bolton for another month. Do Bolton shift to a 4-4-2 with Jay Spearing and Keith Andrews center? Does Darren Pratley get a chance to do what Darren Pratley does?
