Extent of Mark Davies injury revealed

Stay connected for news and updates

Some new information about the injury that Bolton's central midfielder suffered at Huddersfield Town has emerged. We knew that the blow happened when Mark Davies landed awkwardly in the match and we knew that the injury had to do with his shoulder or collarbone. This morning, the Bolton News reported the following:

The Bolton News believes a scan this week revealed the injury was worse than first feared.

It is understood Davies had surgery on his collarbone yesterday and is set for at least two months out of action and it could be as much as three.

What we still don't know is what the injury actually affected, whether it was a broken bone, torn muscles, ruptured ligaments, or some combination of the above. We expect some more information about what happened at Dougie Freedman's pre-Charlton press conference.

The injury comes as a blow to Bolton fans as Mark Davies had found form and consistency under Dougie Freedman's management and looked to be a significant goal threat for the Trotters.
