It's no secret that Bolton Wanderers are underperforming and bad. The fans don't need anyone repeating that fact to them, especially not in the media and especially not from one the biggest (literally and figuratively) serial under-performers at the club. What Bolton Wanderers need at this point in the season is unity from fans and players alike. What they absolutely do not need is a player like Zat Knight coming out and saying:
"We let ourselves down when we come up against teams who are around us. I believe one or two have switched off in those games."
It'd be fine if he thought of himself as the "one" but we don't think that's the case.
"If we do lose those two (Chelsea and City), we could be at the bottom with 11 games to go and other teams might pick up a bit of confidence.
"It is difficult to deal with the pressure. You have to dig deep within yourself and find something."
This is all coming from a 6-and-a-half-foot-tall defender that doesn't know the meaning of the word "sprint." This is a defender who barely plays at a jogging pace. To him, speed is best defined by a player like David Wheater riding a giant tortoise."
How many goals has this Bolton defense allowed on free headers from set pieces? Where were they when Adam Bogdan made the initial save on Wigan's second goal? This is coming from a player who barely helps his team out.
Nigel Reo-Coker similarly laid on his teammates when Bolton lost to Swansea back in October and were on an unbelievably poor run of form. We were ok with NRC doing the talking then and if he chose to speak up now, we'd be fine with it too. Reo-Coker has been a workhorse for much of the season and has largely deserved the captain's armband that he's worn.

Selective memory must be nice.
He does have pace, he just has to wait until he hops in his car and pulls out of his parking spot before he can put his foot down and utilize it.
If we could have a 6’6" or 6’7" Ryo Miyaichi at the back, Bolton would be all set, but I’d settle for getting a proper look at Tim Ream (even off the bench) just so we don’t have to watch Zat Knight pretend he’s useful.

Someone needed to speak out, and it couldn’t be Coyle, it had to be a player, and a veteran player at that.
NRC already did, as mentioned, he can’t go to the well too many times.
I don’t think anyone listens to Kevin Davies anymore, and Martin Petrov has never had that type of personality. Gretar Steinsson doesn’t have a solid hold on the right back shirt, so it’s hard for him to do it.
That leaves Knight and Sam Ricketts, but I think Ricketts is aware that once Marcos Alonso comes back he will be the starting left back.
