Number 17, Bolton Wanderers goal machine (when he felt like it), came out with a few quotes for German tabloid Bild yesterday and he believes he will be fine in this upcoming transfer window. Ivan Klasnic believes that despite being relegated with Bolton Wanderers and not being called up to Croatia's Euro 2012 squad, he is better than ever.
There is no doubting Klasnic's finishing ability. The striker could be and has been very lethal in front of goal when taking only one touch. The issue was his work ethic. The fox in the box could change a game with one touch but only when he could be arsed to get on the end of a pass. Klas could never lock down a starting spot at Bolton because of this.
Often, he was brilliant in the super sub role, coming on for a tired Kevin Davies or David Ngog, scoring a late goal when needed. It was this that led him to be the club's leading scored last season. He failed a lot of the time to convert his great substitute performances into something that could last even 70 minutes.
Klasnic told Bild:
"I've become more experienced, but feel more like a 25-year-old. It sounds arrogant, but there are not often many strikers of my quality [available]. I feel fit and am healthy,"
"[Missing out on Euro 2012] only makes me stronger. I must accept it, keep my fingers crossed for my fellow countrymen."
When asked about a potential return to old stomping ground Werder Bremen:
"Bremen was a great time. But it is long gone. Werder have to watch out now anyway - I'm worried about Werder. There are a lack of experienced players to show the boys where to go. For Werder it will be hard to get back up.
"We will see what happens, who comes in for [my] services. For me at least, I do not have to worry."
We wish Klasnic all the best wherever he goes in the future as he provided some great moments for Bolton Wanderers, we just wish that there were more of them.
