Stuart Holden was supposed to make his long-awaited reserve return on December 17th in a reserve match between Bolton Wanderers and Bury. That reserves game was eventually postponed due to a waterlogged pitch not being playable. Well, Marc Iles has just confirmed that Stu Holden will have his reserve return next week.

Holden recently completed over an hour of play in a closed-door match against Wigan Athletic.

The match will take place at the County Ground in Leyland and will see Bolton Wanderers take on Oldham Athletic, Tom Eaves' former club, in a Manchester Senior Cup match. The match will kick off at 7pm and costs £3 for the general public while Bolton season ticket holders can get in for free.

Alongside Stuart Holden, Josh Vela is expected to make his return as well. The young central midfielder injured his knee just a few minutes into the Capital One Cup match against Crawley Town at the start of this season. He has been back in training recently and the signs are good.
